Flat Laila

We were lucky enough to have my second cousin Laila's Flat Laila come to visit us. If your remember last year about this time we had Jackson's Flat Stanley come to visit us. Here is what we did while Flat Laila visited us.

Saturday February 25, 2012

Flat Laila came to visit us during a very fun weekend. This weekend was the start of Fur Rondy. This is a week long celebration of dog sled racing. 

Since we were going to be outside for the day we made Flat Laila a parka so she would be warm. Currently in Anchorage we have over four feet of snow. It is about 25* F during the day. Flat Laila really needed a parka. 

The first thing we did at Fur Rondy is go to the area where they were giving short dog sled rides. Flat Laila loved the ride. 

We then went downtown to where the races were happening. Flat Laila and Jackson took a picture with Balto. Balto is a famous dog sled dog, who helped save the village of Nome. The Iditarod race retraces the route that Balto took. The Iditarod starts on Saturday March 3. Sadly Flat Laila will miss it. 

The last picture is of Flat Laila with Jackson in front of the Fur Rondy sign. We had a lot of fun. I hope you enjoyed hearing about Flat Laila's time with us.
