Changes always changes

Well this week has brought some good and indifferent changes. On Tuesday I deiced that I needed to do something with my hair. I have been just pulling it up into a ponytail every morning. I do that because it is easy. So when I got home from work I took Jackson to Scout (which btw was his first night and he LOVED it). While he was at scouts I went to Great Clips to get my hair cut, but the wait was an hour, and there was no way I could wait that long. So I ran into the store next to it and got a few things, including a box of hair color. When we got home from scouts I colored my hair. It is a lovely strawberry blonde. I love it. Then Wednesday I got a text from someone I work with, asking me to come into the office for a schedule change. I knew that one of my individuals was going to be getting discharged from the program, so I didn't think much of it. When I got there on my lunch I found out that I will be doing full time with a young man who is deaf. My hours are now 7am-5pm. On my way home that night I stopped at Great Clips again and was able to cut my hair. It just above my shoulder and layer really cute. I love it too. I still need to get a pic of it...maybe today and I will post it later.

We also got a new phone this past week. So I went through my cell and took off pictures. I will post some of them on here. Many are from the summer and I just didn't get the up. I am also putting up pictures from a hike I did along the coastal trail in Anchorage. There are also pictures of the geese that are around the library. I just enjoyed taking pictures of them.

New car, great talk, and random pictures

So this is a three part post....enjoy! 

 The BIG news is that we got a new (to us) car. It is a 95 Lincoln Towncar. It has a few small problem, but nothing that Luke can't fix. The weather is starting to get cold and it is hard for Luke to ride his motorcycle in the cold. So the car came at the perfect time!
 

Yesterday was the General Relief Society broadcast. I was unable to watch it when it first aired but I recorded it. So today I watched it, while Luke was working on the car. President Uchtdorf gave an amazing talk!!! Here are my notes from the talk plus a really sweet handout that a cousin found online! 

President Uchtdorf used a Forget Me Not flower to help us remember 5 important truths! 
1. Forget not to be patient with yourself
-We are not perfect and no one is perfect
-Becoming perfect is a long term goal
-be compassionate and patient with yourself 
-be thankful for small successes, they may be tiny to you, but God notices and they are not small to him
-the journey to perfection is long
2. Forget not the difference between good and foolish sacrifice 
-Ask yourself "Am I giving my time and energy to something that will progress me toward the kingdom of God?"
 3. Forget not to be happy now
-Find joy in simple things
-problems come when we put life on hold for the perfect ideal
-when you looking for the ideal you miss the blessing in front of you 
-don't forget the everyday moments
4.Forget not the whys of the gospel. 
-we can often overlook the why of the gospel
-we see the to do list of the gospel and often forget the whys
-the what and how make the way, but why makes it the holy act
5. Forget not that the Lord loves you
-you are not forgotten!
-He loves you, because you are his daughter
-you are destined for more than you think




All I can say is this talk is amazing! If you are LDS, even if you aren't you should find this talk and listen/read it. Amazing!!!!

Ward Fish Fry

So I am late on these pictures, but oh well, I have been working full time too. Last week the ward had a fish fry. It was a good time. It was at Mirror Lake which is just up the highway a few exits. The kids had fun playing and Luke and I enjoyed getting to know more members of the ward.
Luke has been moved to graveyard shift for all but one day at work. He now gets to spend more time with the kids. The kids go to bed as he is leaving for work, and he goes to bed as Jackson heads to school, I go to work and Qyanna goes to the baby sitter. Qyanna now stays at home with Daddy on Tuesday and Thursdays. It is all working out.

Well I have started work, Jackson has started school, Qyanna has started going to her new babysitter. Last week and this week I have been in training for my new job working at the Arc of Anchorage. So far so good. Jackson is in second grade. There is a small world connection between his teacher and a former co-worker from Kotzebue. His teacher grew up with my friend Jean. We found this wonderful lady to watch Qyanna. She is closing on a house just around the corner from where we are living, and the place she is staying at for the last two weeks is just down the street from the Arc where I have been doing my training. Qyanna just loves playing with her 3 month year old. She goes over there on Wed, Thurs, and Fri.

Getting settled in

Well we have been in the house for almost two weeks. We are unpacked  and settled in. The kids are comfortable with the house, and it feels like home. Next week life starts to take off. I start work at the Arc on Tuesday, and Tuesday is the first day of school for Jackson. With me starting work Qyanna will start going to the babysitter on Wed (Luke has Mondays and Tuesdays off). We found this really nice lady who has a baby at home who is looking to take on one or two more little ones. So it is perfect for us. That is really just about it.

So the big news for the week is that we have moved into our house. It is wonderful! On top of it all I have unpacked and organized the house. We still need a few things for the house, but nothing that we can't live without.
This week I had an interview with Chugiak Elementary School. I really hope I hear back from them, if not I do have a job offer still from the Arc.
Luke's 32nd birthday was Friday. Since he had to work we celebrated on Thursday night when he was home. We made home made pizza and I made a pistachio cake. It was all very yummy.
